At 26, Chris Getty became the youngest mayor in Illinois history at the time. He inherited a divided town where politics had  turned toxic — and he brought people together. He also serves as Lyons Township Supervisor. He has never been beholden to party bosses — and he's not about to start.

As Mayor of Lyons since 2009, Getty has been re-elected four times. Seventeen years and four re-elections later, Lyons has stability, public safety, and services residents can feel every day. He also serves as Lyons Township Supervisor.

Groceries, rent, utilities, child care — everything costs more, and while families stretch every dollar, Washington points fingers. Chris will make affordability priority one: fighting to lower everyday costs and bring the practical, budget-minded discipline of a mayor to federal spending decisions that hit your wallet.

In Lyons, Chris focused on public safety and services people feel every day — and it worked. In Congress, he'll support safe neighborhoods and be a fierce advocate for responsible, practical immigration solutions, representing every resident across the district with fairness and respect.

Public office is a public trust. Chris will work to  restore trust in government, protect the integrity of our elections, and  defend the democratic values that make our country strong — holding  Washington and both parties accountable to the voters, not to insiders.

From Pilsen and Brighton Park to Cicero, Berwyn,  Brookfield, Burbank, and Lyons, this district is a community of communities.  Chris is showing up, listening, and building a coalition of working families,  union households, small business owners, and neighbors of every background —  because a representative should represent everyone.

Neither. He appears on the ballot as an independent candidate after the retiring Democratic incumbent stepped aside only after  the filing deadline, leaving his own chief of staff as the only Democrat on the primary ballot — no competitive primary. Nearly 20,000 neighbors signed  petitions to put Getty on the November ballot instead, well above the 10,816 signatures required.
